"Happy Father's Day!"

Last year you heard these words for the first and only year in your life that you would. Baby Mark wasn't even born yet, but since you were indeed a Father, it was so fun for me to send you your first "Happy Father's Day" wish. You told me it was a great day and that Nicole's kids gave you a card and made you feel special that day. I was so happy for you and glad that you were feeling loved. We all know you looked forward to Baby Mark's birth and to being Daddy. And I know you were nervous too.

I still think about when you let me know you were going to be a Father and how excited you were! You complained about how it 'sucked' (your words not mine) that you couldn't go into the doctor visits with Nicole because of COVID. When you sent us a recording of his heartbeat we were so blessed by that, Mark. We told you that the sound of his heart was like music to our ears. You replied, 'ours too'.

After Baby Mark was born you sent me all of the pictures from his birth letting me know that you took them all yourself. When I look at him today, he looks just like you! We had a cute video chat with him when Diana was with him earlier this week and he was crawling all over the place chasing his ball just like you used to do! He came crawling over to us all smiles with his little helmet on. He has a deep voice for a little guy and a smile that melts a heart just like his Daddy's always did.

We pray for baby Mark and his future without you...We pray for you too, Mark and I will until I die. It's so sad when I think about you are missing out on all of the joys (and trials) of Fatherhood. I guess even in the short 2 months you had him you experienced both didn't you?

Happy Father's Day, Son. I miss you so much. Love, Mom

About Mark

Mark  left a son, Mark Jr., just 2 months old when he died.

His 31 short years of life had joys with plenty of love, great experiences and memories as well as heartache, difficulties and pain. But Mark always pushed on, survived many obstacles, fell down, got up and in the end loved his family and especially his baby son.  We sure miss and love you, Mark.
